Mission Results

Date: 07/04-2013
Time: 01:05AM PDT/17:05PM JST
Location: Sea of Japan

A flight of three unknown aircraft were detected heading south east by north west from what was apparently a departure point somewhere inside North Korea. Once the aircraft were within 150 miles of the disputed Dokdo Takeshima Island, two IDN Su-30MKM interceptors were scrambled from Misawa Air Base in Japan.

As the IDN aircraft approached the three bogies head on within 70 miles, one of the bogies broke off and entered a holding pattern north west of the interception point. Once within 55 miles, the IDN aircraft used their radars to identify the three aircraft. Two MiG-29K Fulcrums, and an IL-78M air refueling craft, which broke off and entered a holding pattern.

At 15 miles from the merge, the two MiG-29s entered a rapid decent to an altitude of 2,000ft ASL and entered a high speed thatch weave over the north western coast of the Dokdo Takeshima island. The IDN aircraft maintained their altitude and attempted to contact the two Fulcrums, callsigns: S.I.N.-Ghoul-1- and S.I.N.-Ghoul-2-. The MiG-29s then went vertical and climbed to an altitude of 15,000ft and rolled inverted to close on the tails of the IDN aircraft. At this point, the IDN flight leader, callsign: IDN-Shark1, declared the two MiG-29s as "bandits" and cleared his wingman to arm and engage. Just at that moment, a fourth aircraft was detected on radar heading south east by north west at 55 miles.

After several minutes of air combat maneuvering, IDN-Shark1 had achieved an air to air kill against one of the MiG-29s (S.I.N.-Ghoul-1-). As IDN-Shark2 was closing within 1.5 miles of the second MiG-29, which was lightly damaged at this point, the fourth bandit, identified as a Su-27SKM piloted by S.I.N.-BlackWing-, entered the fight.

S.I.N.-BlackWing- closed to within one mile of IDN-Shark2, and in accordance with the ROE, achieved an air to air kill against the IDN aircraft. At this point, the remaining MiG-29 disengaged and extended to the north west. The two rival Flankers engaged each other for several minutes until IDN-Shark1 finally achieved lead pursuit of S.I.N.-BlackWing-, closing within 0.5 mile. It is at this moment that S.I.N.-BlackWing- rolled wings level and performed a high alpha break (Cobra) directly in front of IDN-Shark1. With no time to react, the two aircraft collided in midair. With full realism settings active, IDN-Shark1's left wing was destroyed and he ejected somewhere over the Sea of Japan. SAR operations are underway in effort to rescue/recover the two downed IDN pilots, although it is not known at this time whether or not they are still alive.

The extent of damage to the S.I.N. MiG-29 (piloted by Ghoul-2) and -BlackWing-'s Su-27SKM has yet to be determined. At this time, we have not been able to confirm if these aircraft crashed or RTB.

As a result of this incident, Omni Core Unltd. is directing IDN Air Intercept Squadron VF-Zero "Death Angels" to deploy from Mojave, California to Misawa, Japan. Five IDN Su-30MK2, one IL-78M, and One E-737 will depart for Japan tonight.

That is all.

Due to the condition of two IDN Su-30MKM Flankers, only five aircraft of VF-Zero will depart for Japan tonight as the two Flankers undergo maintenance and flight testing. Once it his been determined that these aircraft are fully operational, they will depart for Japan to regroup with the rest of VF-Zero.

All operations are conducted in the VR Wolrd Operations Server.

The Su-27 I was piloting crashed 11 miles from the Korean Peninsula and cannot be repaired.  I ejected from the aircraft and was recovered by a North Korean vessel within the hour.  The MiG-29 that was piloted by Ghoul-2returned safely to Sunnan Air Base in Pyonyang, North Korea.  He had to tank four times as his airframe and fluid lines were damaged in the fight with Sharks 1 and 2.  The aircraft can be repaired in a matter of a week.  The MiG-29 that was piloted by Ghoul-1 was destroyed by IDN Shark 1 and is listed as lost/unsalvageable.  As of now the pilot has not been recovered and will be presumed dead if not recovered within the next 48 hours.
Recon missions throughout the disputed islands chain in the Sea of Japan will continue.

As Omni Core Unltd. is not a government and does not hold authority over any territories, we cannot accuse anyone of violating airspace restrictions, nor can we attempt to place any such restrictions on any faction. However, Omni Core Unltd. does have several energy management systems throughout the region, extending from East Asia into the Western Seaboard of the United States. Omni Core Unltd. has directed the Independent Defense Network to protect and defend our assets accordingly. Hostile acts toward any Omni Core Unltd. property and personnel will be met with aggressive action. The IDN's sole protocol in their tactical defense role is the total destruction of any and all immediate threats.

Let this notice serve as a first and final warning to all active and future factions.

We have intercepted an emergency transponder signal from IDN-Shark1, who ejected over the Sea of Japan after suffering a mid air collision with a S.I.N. aircraft.  His location is in the disputed Diaoyu Islands.  SAR Operations will be carried out by IDN Special Operations Division 1 (SOD-1).  Air support will also be present to defend all IDN personnel from hostile air, land, and maritime threats.  This mission will be carried out tonight via Arma3 session:  VR World Operations, and FSX server:  VR World Operations.  This post will be updated with mission times shortly.

PostSubject: Search And Rescue: Success and grievance.   Tue Jul 09, 2013 8:06 am

The search and rescue operation of IDN-Shark1 was a success. Although IDN SOD-1 did briefly exchange small arms fire with a S.I.N. squad, there were no known casualties from either side. During Shark1's debriefing, he revealed that Shark2 was captured by S.I.N. forces, and believes he was transported to a prison in North Korea. We have launched an intelligence operation to establish the location and situation of Shark2, and will take further action to recover him as soon as possible.
